Oh snap, Major League Baseball (MLB) just joined Snapchat (no jokes about sending ball pics).
Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) is partnering with Snapchat to present a weekly video update called “MLB Story”. The series will take content submitted by fans games around the country using Snapchat’s “Our Stories” feature. Both companies are viewing this as a trial and thus far money is not changing hands. While this is Snapchat’s first regularly schedule program as it were, this not the first time the have worked with a professional sports organization. Previously, they have done similar temporary projects for the rest of the big four American sports (NFL, NBA, NHL) and have previously worked with MLB on milestone events like Derek Jeter’s final home game. This is one partnership that both sides are hoping will be a homerun and won’t go foul…other assorted baseball phrases.
